Portsmouth Bike Ride 7/12/2016

What a beautiful day for an easy twenty-mile bike ride around Portsmouth – blue sky, mid eighties, and no rain in sight! After a brief overview of Olde Towne, our group of twenty wound its way with fits and starts through nine surrounding neighborhoods, many of which included stunning views of the Elizabeth River for our enjoyment. A sign in Port Norfolk hawking Live Crabs got many of us thinking early about lunch. In the meantime, Sandra rode solo, after catching a late ferry, to catch up with the rest of the group at City Park just in the nick of time as we were getting ready to head back toward downtown. Only slightly off schedule, we arrived for lunch at Dock of the Bay, in the Shea Terrace neighborhood, where we chowed down on the best shrimp tacos ever. While the tacos definitely rated an A+, we sure could have used some AC by this point (note to me the tour organizer who decided we should eat on the patio). Once back downtown, while most of the group headed to Noel’s Deli for ice cream, Sandra and I headed down the street to Cycle Classics to say hello. While we were back in the workshop, the tech said he heard a hissing sound. It seems that Sandra had developed a flat right as we entered the shop – what luck!
