Tuesday Group FLSP Narrows, 64 th Street Hike
February 5, 2019, 9:15 – 2:00pm
It was a beautiful sunny day for this wonderful 8 1/2 mile hike at the Narrows at 64 th Street at First Landing State Park, with 22 people and a very well behaved black dog named “Kayo” (Melanie’s dog). This was plan B from the planned hike at the Washington Ditch at Dismal Swamp (they were working on the trails and road leading to that hike so it was impossible to hike that trail, much to most people’s delight, except for Mark B who didn’t get the word on the last minute change and showed up there). So we started out at the narrows and hiked along Broad Bay, down to the Cape Henry Trail/64 th street entrance, where we took a restroom break,
enjoying the scenery along the way. In typical Tuesday Group fashion we hiked and talked our way down to the entrance of the White Hill Lake Trail which connects to Long Creek Trail via a small bridge overlooking scenic water, trees and wildlife. We took a break for rest and picture taking, then continued on to our lunch destination, a beach under some beautiful trees along Broad Bay beach. We all enjoyed the beach and trees so much that many of us wanted to stay much, much longer after we finished our lunches. But of course we had to continue on our way at some point, so around 1pm or so we got up and moseyed our way along the Osprey Trail
back to our cars at the Narrows. Everybody agreed that it was a great day for our Tuesday adventure, it always is, and were so glad that we got out to hike in this beautiful weather at First Landing Park.
