We had a great ride today despite the somewhat cool temperatures. We had a couple drop outs and then a few last minute shows that hadn't signed up so it all evened out. Riding today were: Bruce and Margaret J, Brian, Katrina, Vic, Kathy, Jack, Bob, Dave and Carolyn, Tom, Ed, Bill, John, Debbie and me. Just about everyone was comfortable layered up in fleece and windbreakers but a few showed up in cotton and they felt the cold a bit more. Bruce led the way from our starting point in Newport News Park to the Yorktown Battlefield National Park. We took a short break there resisting the entreaties of a Park Ranger to join her tour. We gathered at the Victory Monument for our traditional photo and then headed to an early lunch at the Pub--Katrina opted for the Carrot Tree. I thought we might ride to the cannon before lunch but everyone wanted to eat first. After lunch, a bunch of folks decided to head straight back. No one wanted to ride to the cannon (a huge break with tradition) so the rest of us started back as well. We'd only covered about 15-16 miles by the time we got back to the Park but it turned out to be a beautiful day. Another triumph for the Tuesday Group!
