Bike Ride to False Cape, April 24, 2018
It wasn't all that bad yesterday, the wind was out of the south/east and that helped on the return trip which is always the hardest. The temperatures were warm and the rain was never hard and it did stop once in a while. We biked the West Dike through Back Bay Wildlife Refuge and half of that is wooded. The 6 miles in False Cape Park is mostly wooded also. We had a great lunch spot on the deck of the EEC Building with a great view of the bay and some of the close by islands. We saw Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Osprey and one Bald Eagle there at Sprats Cove, also a bird I think was a Night Heron, Bob S. and I saw that in Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. We had a nice hike down to the Church and Cemetery Site and talked about the people and how hard life was back in the 1800's and talked about all the Inlets that once were along the coast of Virginia and North Carolina. I learn something about the inlets from Steve the news member of the Tuesday Group. Once you get wet, you don't get any weter as the day goes by, I did find out that my new paints are not water proof, so that along was enough for the bike ride. We had 6 out of the 10 that had sign-up which was: Bob M, Bob Saf, Steve L Carl A, Bruce D and Bruce J. We also had JP to show up for breakfast at Marge & Rays. Bruce
Special Thanks to Bob M for his great pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/dY8HPD7myZlqQ1e53
