Lake Drummond Paddle 10/6/2015

This Tuesday outing for the Tuesday Group was a Paddle on Lake Drummond there in Chesapeake. Some of us met at Hardess around 7:15 and had our morning biscuits and talked about all the rain we have had for the past 2 weeks. We all hoped it was over and that we would not see any on this day. The first thing we saw was the morning sun shining on a house across the street and we knew it would be a good day and it was, a picture perfect day ! Leaving here we all headed to the put-in and began unloading our boats, we had Jim A, Bob M, John F, Bill B, Buck H, Charlie, Bruce & Margaret, Bob A. and his Grand Daughter , Lexie, with Phyllis N, Sandra C, and her cousin Patty. We had 12 boats and 13 people and paddled between 13 and 15 miles with the group splitting up around 12:30 so some could get back earlier. If you plan on going out to the lake and camping in the next few weeks, I wouldn’t because they are rebuilding the Dam area and there is a BIG PUMP there running day and night. Making it out to the lake we all were surprised that there were no white-caps and very little wind at all. We headed north and all but 3 made it to The Washington Ditch, but he was nowhere to be seen. We had our lunch here and by the time we decided to leave it was about 1:45 and no one wanted to go because it was so peaceful and beautiful here we didn’t want to leave. We had paddled around the edge of the lake to get here but decided to head straight back across the lake to save about a half mile.

Back at the take-out around 4:00 P.M. , we loaded our boats and headed home but it was another beautiful day with great friends for the one and only “Tuesday Group”.

With the late hour of the day we skipped the ice cream but will make up for it on our next outing. Bruce
