Ziplines and More Adventure 9/1/15

I put it out for a few good Tuesday Groupers that wanted to swing through and climb on trees out in the woods. I had 14 plus, that signed – up for a 3 hour tour. We had Bev, Susan, Chris, Brooke, Sandra, Diane, her daughter Meghan, Phyllis, Margaret and 5 men, Bob, Jack, Ken, Bill and the instigator of this Go Ape outing, Bruce. Meeting at 8:30 A.M. in Freedom Park in Williamsburg for our 9:00 A.M. starting time the group drove in one at a time until everyone was there. Everybody was a little excited about getting started but just like everything you have to fill out the paper work. We all got a clip board, a pen and 3 pages to read and fill out. Then one of the instructors told us to follow her into the woods. She told us all about hooking up the carabiners, climbing rope ladders, swinging through the trees and how to get into the fenced in area with a code of only 2 numbers, she knew we couldn’t remember more than that.

After this we were ready to start our adventure and headed towards the first gate. I can’t count the number of times that we hooked up and unhooked the carabiners on this Go Ape Course, but it was worth it. Everyone had a good time and for some this was their first time. Some of the boardwalks, the cables, the rings and cargo nets were hard for some to do while others breeze right through them. We all tried to stay together as a group, which was not easy for a group this large. We managed to finish within 15 minutes of one another. Steve, not wanting to zip line came out and took pictures of us. Bill had his GoPro camera attached to him and took a picture every 5 second, should be a lot of pictures. The pictures should show all of the fun we had on this adventurous day with the Tuesday Group. We only lost 2 hats and one pair of glasses, but we recovered everything before we left.

We joined Sue & Ron and a new Tuesday Grouper, Jennie for lunch there at the picnic tables in the shade. They had hiked around some of the trails at the park and walked through the Botanical Garden, which is an Ellipse Garden featuring more than 300 species of native Virginia vegetation.

We need to go back within 11 months so we can get a free T-shirt; you know we all need another T-shirt. Everyone said they had a great time and some even said they wanted to go back. Thanks to everyone for making this a different Tuesday Group adventure! Bruce
