It’s been a fast 13 years but good years with the Tuesday Groupers on all our outing we get to do each week. Yesterday was another great one, I knew it would be a great day when I awoke and there was no Dew on the truck or grass, everything was dry at 6:00 A.M. and that makes it a good start to the day. Margaret and I skipped the Breakfast and drove straight to Little Island City Park. Meeting at 9:00 A.M. we had 16 to show for this year’s Triathlon and all was ready to start biking by 9:30 on our first leg of the triathlon. I had the Authorization Letter from Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge to bring the group in, so we biked right through the gate heading towards False Cape State Park.
Reaching the park we had to jockey around some equipment that was there to build the new Boat Docks but was no trouble for us. Heading over to the boat house where the kayaks are stored we had to walk around more equipment they were using on the Boat Docks. High water this past year destroyed the 3 docks there at the park and we are in the process of rebuilding 2 of them not sure when the third one will be built. We put on our PFD’S took a kayak and a paddle and I helped each one into the water and we were off on the second leg of the triathlon. We want say who but someone left their Hiking Shoes back at the Boat House and I had to return to get them which slow us down just a little.
I had to change up the paddle part and the hiking part because of the construction crew that’s building the docks had already taken down the False Cape Landing Dock and tore up and muddy up the take out area. We cut short the paddle and took out at Spratt’s Cove and added a mile to the hiking part of the third leg of the Triathlon. As we reach the campsites there at False Cape Landing on the ocean side of the park everyone was ready to chow down on the tuna and peanut butter sandwiches that all but one brought with them. Again we want say who. After we ate and giving some of what we brought to you know who, so she would have something to eat we hiked out to the beach. We were all alone on the beach except for one truck heading south to N.C...
Now it was time to start back doing just the opposite of what we had done on the way down. We did stop at the Visitor’s Center on the way back and told them “Thank You” for letting us use their Kayaks and gear that made it possible for us to have a great Tuesday Group Outing. The weather was great and all had a good time which was: Margaret J., Bill B., Dave P., Bob S., Bob M., John O., Jane O., Ellis M., Marti M., Carolyn , Brenda, Sandy, Steve, Sidney, Carl and the perpetrator of this maddest Bruce.
