We paddle the Goodwin Islands nearly every season and it is always a different experience. And it never disappoints. Today was no different. We had a beautiful day today. Highs in the low 80s, low humidity and plenty of sunshine. We also had a lot of wind which wound up preventing us from going around the islands. On the water today were: Bruce and Margaret J, Vic and Margaret P, Bruce D, Bill, Helen, Kathy, Sherri, Cynthia, Kim, Kevin, Ellis, Carolyn, Catherine and Dan, Melanie and me, Phyllis. We started our paddle close to high tide. That and the northeast winds gave us plenty of water to explore Back Creek like we had never done before. We coursed through the high grasses until we started to run out of water and then turned around. We continued on back past the marina until we reached the "scallop fleet". Some of us did this anyway. Several folks turned back long before this as the chop on the water had become challenging-especially for the boats with large open cockpits. There was a clear line where the chop turned to whitecaps and at that point made a clear decision that all would head back to the marina rather than continue on. No flipping boats today! We enjoyed surfing for awhile and then had a leisurely paddle back to the marina. We saw lots of birds today-egret, heron, bald eagles, seagulls and cormorants. We ate our lunches on the dock and then headed to Dairy Queen for blizzards and cones. Another great day for the Tuesday Group!

Thanks Phyllis for a fun day on the water.Glad we were able to take advantage of the high tide and the water blown up Black Creek. We paddled way up the creek. At lunch on the dock I got to try out my new pocket kite. I got great support from the group. View pictures full screen to see my captions.
