Stumpy Lake 8/18/26

Thanks to Catherine for leading this trip with the help of Guide Sherri and Sweep Dan! We paddled all around the lake and saw many birds and even a few golphers in the wild! Kevin spotted a huge beehive way up a tree that I photographed. Bruce found me a wasp nest to photograph but it was at eye level and very busy so I was afraid to get too close. We had lots of fun eating at the clubhouse. Half of the way back to Franklin I was driving in a big thunderstorm. It cooled things down!~Bill

Many thanks to Catherine Fowler for leading us on one of my top five favorite paddles! The birds were amazing! Kevin McKee spotted 17 species: Mallard, Least Tern, Royal Tern, Anhinga, Double-crested Cormorant, Green Heron, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, Black Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Belted Kingfisher, Red-bellied, Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Carolina Wren, American Goldfinch.~Sherri
