TG Goes Sailing 8/14/24
The TG had an outing on the water. Fourteen landlubbers took to the sea for adventure and booty. The top picture by Bill Billings, next by Steve B of the mighty Crew Rest (more about her and her crew below), Island Dream by Sherri and Starchaser also by Sherri.
Avast Ye, me hearties! Hear well the tale!
Barry, Admiral of the Black and the American Main, in cahoots with his
brethren of the Coast, embarked upon the expedition with many a hearty
shanty. That rascally ronyon McQueen was in want of a clap of thunder
right from the get-go. But in accordance with the dictates of Cap'n Dr.
Ellis, it was not provided her. Aye, the scallywag did hang the jib. "No
chance to splice the main brace? Not a nipperkin of Nelson's Folly?"
quoth she. Blimey! Me thinks 'tis a wonder Cap'n Barry dinna send 'er to
Davy Jones' Locker. But no matter.
Cap'n Barry knew well how to run a rig, and we did overhaul the other
two vessels. Sail ho! Tho we nearly come alongside, we dinna pillage and
plunder them. Nay! Nor did we fill 'em full 'ah day light, tho we did
have the wind of both. Cap'n Barry is no scourge of the seven seas. No
scurvy knave he!
"Smartly there, maties!" quoth he. "Aye-aye, sir!" replied all. And off
we sailed to partake of our goodly grub. Oh, what a giddy-paced feast!
Well supped, we made way to port, there to dine upon frozen cream in the
fire house. One and all were large in mirth and parted merry friends.
Fair winds! May yer anchor be ever tight!

A very pleasant day on the water without paddling!
We stopped at the Fort Monroe Firestation for ice cream. The single scoops were huge!
