Tuesday Group Portsmouth Bike Ride 7/2/19
Twenty-four Tuesday Group bikers braved the 90 degree plus heat on July 2, and headed to Portsmouth for a leisurely 22-mile ride through the historic downtown city streets and shaded neighborhoods along the Elizabeth River. It was a challenge to keep such a large group together, but under the stalwart leadership of Cecil Salyer and with Sharon as sweep, all riders arrived at the half-way point, Portsmouth City Park, in good spirits. After a short rest break, we retraced our route back to the Dock of the Bay restaurant where we partook of their delicious lunch offerings and cold drinks. They must have been impressed with our smiling faces and gargantuan appetites; they posted a picture of the group on their Face Book page! Once we arrived back at our starting point, some of the group popped over to Mickey D’s for the compulsory ice cream finale before heading home to some much needed air-conditioning.
