Catherine & Dan treated us to a brand new paddle for the Tuesday Group, and it was a blast! We had the option to launch from either the front of the house (into a canal) or back (into Broad Bay). From there we went the length of Broad Bay Island to a lovely beach at First Landing State Park. Back in our boats we paddled past the 64th Street Boat Ramp to The Narrows, where we got out to explore wildlife that included crabs, fish, and a great blue heron. Other birds seen on this adventure include nesting ospreys, double-crested cormorants, belted king fishers,red-winged blackbirds, various seagulls, and a black scoter. We got to take in several oyster aquaculture operations in action. Catherine provided ice cream for everyone and fascinating information on Bay Island, which is roughly two miles long and .25 miles wide. https://broadbayislandcivicleague.org/history/
Thanks Catherine & Dan! Sherri
