Kayak Safety Practice Back Creek 6/29/21

We had a fun start to our inaugural post-Covid Tuesday Group event! We met at Back Creek park for a long awaited reunion for the Tuesday Group after a year and a half of pandemic paralysis! The weather cooperated for a day of peaceful paddling and practicing our rescue skills. Paddling today: Sandy, Ellis and Marti, Dave and Rosemary, Bruce G, Bruce J, Bill B, Ron and Sue, Jack and Jill, and me, Phyllis. We paddled Back Creek until we found a nice beach opposite to the Goodwin Islands. We did not circle the islands today as we have done in the past. Our goal was to find some quiet water off of the beach to practice our rescue skills. We were pretty lucky with the weather-the water was calm, little to no wind, warm but not too hot and no jellyfish!! Most practiced the "heel hook" rescue and did very well. Bill even managed the "cowboy crawl" as well. We all enjoyed lunch on the beach while catching up with one another and just being together again. We met a park ranger who was out paddling on her day off. She was so impressed that she asked to join our happy group!

Another fabulous day for the Tuesday Group! Welcome back!
