W. J. Darasz

Wiktor J. Darasz (MA) is a Polish philologist and translator. He was born in 1975 in Cracow (Kraków). He studied Slavic philology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and The Charles University in Prague. He is especially interested in theory of verse and poetical translation. He wrote and published many papers on history of Polish verse. He wrote about alliteration and punning in European poetry. He is the author of Mały przewodnik po wierszu polskim (A small guide to Polish verse). He translated into Polish many English and Czech poems by, among others, Robert Browning, Vladimir Holan and Jiri Orten. He also translated Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe. He works as an author of WSJP (The great dictionary of Polish language edited by Professor Piotr Żmigrodzki).
