A 'Disabled's' Beatitude

TV Times 29th June 1984

As a follow up from a star letter by a girl with spina bifida, a disabled person wrote  this in the Church Times:-

Blessed are you, who take time to listen to difficult speech,

For you help us to know that, if we persevere, we can be understood.

Blessed are you who walk with us in public places, and ignore the stare of strangers,

For in companionship we find relaxation.

Blessed are you who never urge us to ‘hurry up’, nor snatch our tools from our hands and do the job for us,

For often we need more time than help.

Blessed are you when you ask for our help, for our greatest need is to be needed.
