9 Stir Into Flame
The inspiration for this song came from St.Paul’s second letter to Timothy, chapter 1. 6-7
‘For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self discipline!’
G D A
D A
Stir into flame, the gift I have given you,
G D A
Be not ashamed, nor deny me,
D A
Come follow me and be strengthened,
G D
In all you must do for me.
Chorus:
F#m G D
For I have ~ given you a wonder,
F#m G D A
For I have ~ given you love,
D F#m G D Bm
~ For I have ~ given you power,
Em A D (G D at end)
Not timidity, but life.
D A
So softly it falls, down from heaven,
G D A
Blessings restored, sins forgiven,
D A
Gently the wind seems to whisper,
G D
A word from the Saviour.
(Chorus:)
D A
See now the flame, burning brighter,
G D A
Lifting our hearts, and our voices,
D A
Love filters through, as we listen,
G D
And heaven rejoices.
(Chorus:)
