Personally for me the food is really the reason to come back for another visit. To name a few of our favorites: Central Grocery, Muriels, Commanders Palace, Redfish Grill. WOW the Mufaletta, what a sandwich! The Drago style oysters from ACME, awesome!! Of great importance that simply must be tried is the beignets at Cafe Du Monde.
In subsequent trips to the Crescent City I find a favorite watering hole that has great fresh Tex-Mex mix of entrees as well as a wide selection of the finest Tequilas available. Rita's Tequila House located at 419 Bourbon St on the western side of the French Quarter. It's atmosphere is highly accommodating and the bartenders and wait staff are friendly.
There are literally hundreds of places to find adequate lodging in NOLA. Lush boutique Hotels, quaint bed and breakfasts and large chains are all available. My choice was off the beaten path and lies on the eastern edge of the french quarter near the market. Laneaux Mansion is an awesome bed and breakfast located at 547 Esplanade. It has period antiques and features a private Victorian garden and fresh pastries every morning.
Interestingly enough a movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was filmed there in 2007. The proprietor Ruth Bodenheimer is a wonderful hostess and gives great advice for local dining and sights.
A must visit for any NOLA trip is National WWII Museum. The complete story of WWII. Fantastic exhibits and multimedia presentations of the great war. Plan on a whole day for the WW2 adventure.
