Ingredients
1 1-pound loaf frozen italian bread dough, thawed
1 3 1/2 oz. package sliced pepperoni
1 cup marinara sauce
1/2 t. crushed fennel seeds
1/2 t. crushed red pepper
1 1/2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Heat oven to 425.
Divide dough in half and roll each piece into an 8 to 10-inch circle.
In a bowl, combine pepperoni, pizza sauce, fennel and crushed red pepper.
Cover half of each circle with mozzarella cheese, leaving a 1/2 inch border around edge. Top with pepperoni mixture. Fold dough over filling. Press edges together to seal.
Optional -brush top with beaten egg for a golden shiny finish. Garnish with grated Parmesan and parsley.
Place on greased baking sheet and bake 15-18 minutes or until puffed and deep golden brown. Serve with marinara sauce, if desired. Serves 2-4.
