Im sure if you wanted to use a Conecuh smoked sausage rather than plain weenies that would kick it up.
Mom didn't but I would recommend the use of parchment paper.

8 all beef wieners
1pkg (8 rolls) crescent rolls
1/2 pkg cheddar cheese (block) sliced long ways to fit weenie
Preheat oven to 375
Slice a deep wedge out of the weenie length ways, repeat for all 8.
Put cheese on in the wedge on top of weenie, wrap in crescent rolls leaving cheese and weenie sticking out each end.
Bake on parchment paper (or greased sheet pan) 12-15-minutes
