I got this recipe from my dear Aunt Helen, who told a story about a lady that paid $150 for this recipe way, way back. The recipe was in her handwriting on a piece of looseleaf paper stuck in a drawer with her many other recipes. I was visiting her at the time and said we gotta make this!
You need a couple of specialty items and all day to fix this bad boy. You will not be disappointed though, so settle in and take your time.
It has no crust but the mixture forms a crust upon baking, fabulous! Go ahead and take an extra dose of your cholesterol medicine.
Deep 10" springform Pan
Large, 1" deep, Baking sheet pan large enough to contain the spring form pan with room around edges.
8 - 8oz pkgs softened cream cheese
1 lb confectioners sugar
1 dozen eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Put cream cheese in mixer and blend in 1 lb powdered sugar, mix well and add 1 dozen eggs one at a time and add 2 tsp vanilla near end of mixing.
Preheat oven to 375
Grease and flour springform pan and pour in mixture. Place springform pan in the large baking pan and place in oven.
Pour in tap water into baking pan so that the springform pan is approx 1/4 submerged .
Bake in oven at 375 for 30 to 45 minutes.
Take water pan and springform out of oven, remove cake from water and set aside to cool for 2 hours.
Preheat oven again at 375 and place water and springform pan back in oven for 45 minutes to an hour
Take out when golden brown and cool .
Freezes well if theres any left.
