"My doctor told me to quit throwing dinner parties for 4 unless there are 3 other people - [sigh]" - Gramps
Read all about it HERE I like to order a Reuben or a Patty Melt sandwich from time to time when I'm traveling on business. I decided to look it up so I could make my own. From the kitchen of: Kim
2 slices of rye bread (Pumpernickle works too) I like the dark rye.
Thin slices of pastrami
Thousand Island or Russian Dressing
Butter or Margarine
Butter the bottom side of a slice of the bread and place on griddle
Place a layer of sauerkraut on the bread
Drizzle a little bit of the dressing on the sauerkraut. Not too much.
Place a good portion of pastrami on top of the sauerkraut
I like to heat the pastrami in the microwave so it melts the cheese in the next step
Place slices of swiss chesse on top of the pastrami
Don't skimp on the cheese. One thin slice is not enough
Top with the other slice of bread and butter the top of the pile
When the bottom is toasted, turn over and toast the other side until cheese is well melted
MAKES: A Reuben sandwich for 1....or for 5000 if you have spiritual connections.
