"My doctor told me to quit throwing dinner parties for 4 unless there are 3 other people - [sigh]" - Gramps
Ingredients:
5 c flour
1 pkg yeast (approx 2 1/2 tsp)
2 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp (rounded) shortening
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
1 3/4 c warm water (more or less)
Directions:
1. Combine in mixing bowl, flour, yeast, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
2. Cut in shortening to dry ingredients.
3. Stir in water, starting with 1 cup first and adding until the consistency of bread dough.
4. Set aside, covered, for 15-20 minutes.
5. Roll out and cut in squares.
6. Fry in oil until golden brown on both sides.
Makes: Depends on how large you cut them. 1 batch serves my family of 5 just fine.
