GOOD OL' TASTY RASIN OATMEAL COOKIES. A GOOD RECIPE.
From the kitchen of: Betty Crocker's Cookbook
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 Cup shortening
1 Cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 Cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup all-purpose flower (If using self-rising flour, omit salt and soda)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts
3 cups quick-cooking oats
INSTRUCTIONS:
Heat oven to 350°.
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugars, egg, water, salt, soda, and vanilla.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop dough in balls onto greased cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Bake 12-15 minutes, or until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger. Immediately remove from baking sheet.
MAKES: Oh I've never counted them. The recipe says 5 dozen, but it lies. You should make bigger cookies that people will feel better about eating 'cause "Hey, I'm only eating one!" It'll probably give you a ballpark of 2-3 dozen or so.
