Cinnamon Twists
THE CLASSIC CINNAMON TWISTS OF FAMILY FUNCTIONS

INGREDIENTS:
Bread:
1 Cup Soured Cream (not sour cream ... cream that went sour) (Boil cream, then cool)
2 Tablespoon shortening
3 Tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
Mix the above, then add:1 large unbeaten egg
1 cake yeast
3 cups sifted flour
Cinnamon Filling:
2 Tablespoons soft butter
1/3 C brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS:
Turn out on lightly floured board.
Knead lightly to form smooth ball.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Roll dough 1/4" thick into 6x24" strip.
Spread surface with 2T soft butter.
Sprinkle the same half (with the butter) with 1/3 C brown sugar + 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
Fold over and cut, twist, let rise.
Bake at 375° 12-15 minutes.
Frost while warm, and eat.
