Latex paints can be formulated using a number of different polymeric binders, the two main groups being poly acrylic esters and poly vinyl esters. This paper looks exclusively at properties of two
binder types from the former group, namely pure (or straight) acrylic binders and acrylic/styrene copolymer binders.
The investigation included determination of the films? mechanical properties, colour change (when
subjected to artificial weathering), resistance to water and water-vapour transmission rates.
