A character can be set to command an individual Troop. Doing so counts them as part of the Troop's men, however certain abilities they possess which specify they apply to Troops can be used on the Troop they are assigned to command.
If a Troop with a commander is slain, the character has a chance to escape with their life. Roll an unmodified 1d10.
1: The character is slain or captured (up to the enemy) instead.
2-4: The character escapes to an adjacent square but the enemy is in hot pursuit and aware of their location.
5-9: Escape to an adjacent square and the enemies are unaware of their location (making them unable to be targeted for 1 turn).
10: They manage to slip away completely undetected, allowing them to return to their own Kingdom safely without trouble.
