Mages who have been cursed with seeking out and devouring souls resulting from a curse placed on them by a dark god or cultist sect.
Soul Drinkers must have taken Mage at least once, GM approval (read below)
Soul Drinkers are designed as an NPC/villain-only Promotion. If a player would want to take this Promotion, either create a TP cost (around 6 or 8) or keep it at 0 but require them to be cursed first in order to take it (and thus seeking out a means to become cursed)
Soul Drinkers do not receive any special equipment.
Soul Drinkers do not increase their wage.
Soul Drinkers learn a handful of unique spells which involve the manipulation of the souls of others but also their own soul.
Steal Souls
MP Cost: 14 | Duration: Instantaneous | Range: 6 square cone
You unleash a powerful and haunting energy in a cone, blue and black wisps shooting out and attempting to latch themselves to the body of anyone caught in its wake in order to rip the soul from their body and bring it to the Soul Drinker to feed. This is an attack (using Spellcasting) against the Mental Defense of all within the cone, and on a successful hit they take 1d8 points of damage directly to Hit Points, 6d4 Resolve damage, and 2d4 Sanity damage. Anyone slain within the cone has their soul ripped and brought to the Soul Drinker to do what they please with (see Drink Soul below). Those without souls are unaffected by this ability. Those who are nothing but souls (such as ghosts) take double damage from this spell.
Soul Drinkers are mages who have been cursed to hunger for the souls of others and costs 0 TP in order to take it as a Promotion to the Mage. These individuals have an unending, bottomless hunger which drives them to insanity. A hunger for the souls of their fellow beings. Feeding this gives them strength, but only serves to starve them further...and also marks them for death by others.
Once a character becomes a Soul Drinker, they cannot go back and must continue to feed their unending hunger forever. No known cure for becoming a Soul Drinker unwillingly exists; death is the only humane cure.
Soul Drinkers also do well when combined with any Magician occupations.
Drink Soul: If you have access to a soul (typically through the Steal Soul spell) you can feed upon the soul - this costs no Stamina, however it can only be done once per turn on your turn. Each time you feed upon a soul you gain point of Satisfaction. For each Satisfaction point you have, you receive a +1 bonus to all rolls (including damage rolls), and this lasts 1d4 days. After which you suffer a -1 penalty to all rolls for a number of days equal to the bonus you gained from your Satisfaction points. Your bonus has a maximum of 4 plus the number of souls you've eaten within the last year.
Power of Souls: By having absorbed souls, you have gained strength from those you've devoured. Upon taking the Soul Drinker promotion for the first time, you increase your Primary and Secondary Attributes by 1.
