Scrolls are magical writings inscribed on a piece of leather parchment or paper of some sort. Often scrolls are used for one spellcaster to teach their secrets and spellcasting to another. These serve as an alternative way for spellcasters to learn new spells rather than the usual way of spending Training Points. Learning spells through scrolls however are a different affair, and doing so is prone to having unintended side effects.
The scroll must be in a language you can read in order to learn from it, and you must be capable of reading to understand the scroll and learn from it.
Crafting a scroll requires a successful Symbology or Language (Write) check against a DC equal to 15 + double MP cost of the spell.
Spells, and other magic options which take up a slot of learning a spell (such as Elemental Blast from Elementalism) can be put into a scroll.
In order to learn from a scroll, you must spend 1 day per point of MP the spell requires to cast. For example, a spell which costs 2 MP takes 2 days to learn from a scroll. After a spell is learned from a scroll, it acquires the "Learned from Scroll" attribute which increases the MP cost of the spell by 2.
Alternatively you can make a skill check to attempt to learn the scroll's spell quicker instead spending 1 hour per point of MP instead. Doing this however requires a Spellcasting check with a DC equal to 20 + double the MP cost. On a failure, the spell isn't learned and the scroll is wasted.
