Barbute Form: Barbute Oozes when taking no action are able to make a Disguise check to pass as a Barbute at a +20 bonus to the check. Due to the application of this skill from the Barbute Ooze, rather than using Rhetoric and Voice for the Disguise check, it uses Beauty. Against someone carefully inspecting the helmet, this bonus is instead only a +10.
In addition to this, the Barbute Ooze can spend 5 MP in order to appear as if it is a magical helmet, though attempts to discern any magical properties fail. This is often used as a means to fool those overly eager to benefit from magical gear, and their tricks can manage to fool even seasoned wizards.
Crush Skull: When put onto the head, a Barbute Ooze's teeth unveil themselves around the rim of the helmet in order to latch onto the target's neck. They automatically take 1d6 points of piercing damage directly to their Hit Points (unless they possess natural Defense Points to the head), and stingers begin stabbing towards the eyes, ears, and nose rapidly. This renders the target Blind and Deaf at Severe Intensity, as well as imposing a -20 to all other sense-based checks (such as smell).
If the individual still has the Barbute Ooze on and receives an attack to the head, the damage is first dealt to the Barbute Ooze and any excess damage dealt is dealt to the unwilling "wearer".
If the Barbute Ooze begins its round with its target's head entrapped and has full Stamina, it can choose to spend all of its Stamina to make a single Slam attack versus the target's Bodily Defense. On a successful hit, the target's skull is crushed within the Barbute Ooze, killing them instantly. On a failed hit, they instead take the Slam damage which deals damage directly to Hit Points unless the wearer possesses natural Defense Points to the head.
An sneaky ooze which takes the shape of a barbute or similar helmet in order to fool those unlucky enough to put it on into being its next victim. Barbutes wait until they're put on a recipients head before latching down onto them, and beginning to tighten, attempting to crush them within the walls of its "mouth".
Creating an Barbute Ooze requires spending 3 gold of reagents, takes 2d3 days, and requires a DC 35 Chemistry check and a DC 25 Armorsmithing check to complete.
