Religion is an important aspect of life in the 13th century, and most of the world follows one faith or another. Some follow polytheistic faiths, others monotheistic. Western Europe is predominantly Catholic while the Eastern Europe tends to be East Orthodox. Muslim faiths are common in the Middle East area. Eastern faiths are seen outside of Europe, primarily in modern day India and China.
Since the Awakening, religious organizations have been in a confused state - although their faiths have been proven true, so are the faiths of their rivals. Information they thought was infallible fact turns out to be mistaken or outright lies. Knowledge once thought as true is put into question. And the introduction of non-human faiths only serves to complicate things further.
