Searching areas.
Ability Score(s): Intuition + Common Sense
Usage: Searching rooms, dead bodies, entire buildings, or small piles of treasure. As opposed to a generic Sight check, Search is not only about being thorough but also consciously trying to find something.
If something has consciously been hidden through the use of Hide or if someone is attempting to Hide, Search can be attempted as an opposed check. You don't need to see the one hiding but rather know their presence is near, the same going for objects and items which have been hidden. Search can be tested blindly to find anything hidden as well, however doing so is time consuming and often results in nothing being found.
Finding items which aren't hidden but are stowed away on an individual is a DC 15 check, increasing this DC by 5 if they are wearing any armor. This is usually done in conjunction with both Sight and Touch, both of which can be used as Exchanges for Search in this case.
Attempting to find something in a room or hidden among rubble and junk is a different task; a hidden switch or lever in a room is typically a DC 25 for small or non-obvious mechanisms while a hidden mechanism (such as a loose stone to open a door) would instead require a DC 40. If something is magically hidden, it is likely more difficult (DC 40 to 60 on average). Finding items among many others is a DC 20 check if the item would be obvious to point out among the others whereas an item which blends in is a DC 40.
