Specialists in heating and shaping metal, blacksmiths come in many varieties and either specialize in specific metals or instead choose to specialize in specific items.
Blacksmiths must have a 3 or higher in Power or Precision.
Blacksmiths receive the following skills;
Cleaning, Remember Detail, Touch, and Nature (Minerals) at Apprentice Rank.
Haggling, two Smithing skills of your choice, and Sight at Trained Rank.
Blacksmithing, Heavy Lifting, Push/Pull, and Appraise at Competent Rank.
Smithing Skills: Brass Smithing, Goldsmithing, Coppersmithing, Locksmithing, Pewtersmithing, Silversmithing, Armorsmithing, and Weaponsmithing.
Blacksmiths receive the following equipment for their job; a forge, an anvil, a hammer, a brown or black apron, loose-fitting clothes, and tongs.
Blacksmith forges and anvils are fixtures often as part of a building; player characters (if able) choose a location to set up their forge, setting up this location in a building or just outside of a building as part of a shop. These forges require 1 month of preparation, and the first one to be set up is free (although subsequent forges require 80 Silver and 1 month to set up).
Blacksmiths make 15 Silver per month.
Blacksmiths are common due to the demand for weapons and armor and it costs 4 TP in order to take it as an occupation. Despite how common they are, Blacksmiths usually come from a family of fellow smiths with family secrets passed out for generations, creating special forging techniques which are unique to one family of smiths or another. Blacksmiths rarely stick to only one variant of smithing, and usually dabble with or specialize in a specific form of smithing in order to make a unique brand name for themselves.
Blacksmiths also do well when combined with any Warrior occupation, as the ability to maintain gear as well as make new gear for yourself is very useful (though rarely possible for on-the-road adventurers).
