Usage: Managing to stay quiet so others cannot hear you, Silence is often made as an opposed check against the Hearing check of everyone who would be within range of hearing you (normally people within 6 squares).
Noisy surfaces (such as creaky floorboards or dry crumbling leaves) impose a -5 to your Silence check if you're moving.
You must move only at half your movement speed in order to not take penalties on your Silence check, otherwise moving more than half your movement speed imposes a -10 to your Silence check. Moving more than your movement speed (such as by spending Stamina to do so, or by running) is a -20 instead of a -10 to your Silence check.
If you remain completely still you gain a +10 bonus on your Silence check.
