You own a pet which not only understands simple commands from you which it obeys to the best of its ability, but it also calms you down when in its presence.
While your pet is alive and within line of sight to you, you receive a +4 bonus to Mental Defense versus effects which would deal Resolve or Sanity damage.
If this pet is killed, this trait is transformed into Slaughtered Friend, in which you instead can once per day enter a state of anger and sorrow over your pet's death. Doing this reduces your Physical Defense by 2, increases your Mental and Bodily Defenses by 2, and grants you a +5 bonus to attack rolls for 2d4+1 rounds.
