Đừng bao giờ ngừng mơ ước về một câu chuyện thần tiên, ngay cả khi bạn đang sống ở thế kỷ 21 - đó là thông điệp mà bộ phim “Enchanted” muốn truyền tải.

Enchanted là một tác phẩm điện ảnh vui nhộn, tràn ngập lời ca, tiếng nhạc và thắm đượm tình yêu thương. Phim mở đầu với những cảnh hoạt hình miêu tả cuộc sống trong thế giới âm nhạc của Giselle (Amy Adams đóng). Cô gái 20 tuổi sống cùng muông thú và mơ ước về một bạch mã hoàng tử sẽ cùng cô sống hạnh phúc mãi mãi. Nhưng hoàng hậu Narissa (Susan Sarandon đóng) - mẹ kế của hoàng tử Edward (James Marsden) rắp tâm chia rẽ mối tình của chàng và Giselle. Mụ đã tìm cách đẩy Giselle đến thế giới hiện đại.

Câu chuyện thần tiên ở New York vừa là phim hoạt hình (khi các nhân vật ở trong thế giới cổ tích), vừa là phim “người” (khi các nhân vật ở thế giới hiện đại). Bộ phim rộn rã tiếng nhạc từ những phút đầu cho tới khi kết thúc. Vai của Patrick Dempsey không khiến một tài tử kỳ cựu như anh phải cố gắng nhiều trong diễn xuất. Nhiệm vụ của anh là hóa thân thành “gà trống nuôi con” và tìm cho cô con gái 6 tuổi một người mẹ kế. Robert đã giúp Giselle phát hiện ra hành trình thực sự của tình yêu: những đôi trai gái gặp gỡ, hẹn hò, trao đổi quan điểm về cuộc sống chứ không đơn thuần chỉ là hoàng tử gặp công chúa rồi kết hôn.

Ở tuổi 33, nữ diễn viên Amy Adams vẫn được chọn vào vai Giselle vì khả năng ca hát và diễn xuất suốt 45 phút trong buổi thử vai. Gương mặt trẻ trung với vẻ ngây thơ của Amy sẽ không để lại ấn tượng cho khán giả, nếu cô không lột tả sự chuyển biến về tâm trạng của Giselle sau vài ngày ở New York. Đôi mắt nàng công chúa không còn vô tư mà trở nên da diết, ẩn chứa tình cảm thương nhớ mênh mang khi cô nhận ra tình cảm mình dành cho Robert. Cô buộc phải lựa chọn giữa ngã ba đường: trở về với thế giới của mình, hoặc ở lại vương quốc của người cô yêu.

In the kingdom of "Andalasia", an animated fairy tale world, the evil Narissa fears losing her position as queen when her stepson, Prince Edward, would find his true love and marry her. She enlists her loyal henchman Nathaniel to keep Edward distracted. Giselle, a young woman, dreams of meeting a prince and experiencing a "happy ever after". Edward hears Giselle singing and sets off to find her. Nathaniel sets free a captured troll to kill Giselle, but Edward rescues her in time. When they meet, they instantly fall in love and plan to get married the following day.

Narissa, disguised as an old hag, intercepts Giselle on her way to the wedding and pushes her into a well, which leads to a manhole in New York City's Times Square. Giselle quickly becomes lost. Meanwhile, Robert, a divorce lawyer, prepares to propose to his longtime girlfriend Nancy, much to the dismay of his daughter Morgan. Robert and Morgan encounter Giselle on their way home, and Robert begrudgingly allows Giselle to stay the night at their apartment at the insistence of Morgan, who trusts Giselle.

Pip, Giselle's best chipmunk friend from Andalasia, had witnessed Giselle's exile and alerted Edward thereafter, and both embark on a rescue mission to the city. Narissa sends Nathaniel to follow and impede Edward. In a restaurant, Narissa appears to Nathaniel in a soup pot and gives him three poisoned apples to murder Giselle. Pip eavesdrops but is unable to communicate with Edward, as animals cannot speak outside of Andalasia. Nathaniel keeps Pip silenced by imprisoning him in various containers. Meanwhile, after Giselle summons vermin to clean Robert's apartment, Nancy arrives to take Morgan to school. She meets Giselle and then angrily leaves assuming Robert was unfaithful. Robert is initially upset but spends the day with Giselle, knowing she is vulnerable in the city. Giselle questions Robert about his relationship with Nancy and helps the pair reconcile by sending Nancy an invitation to the "King and Queen's Costume Ball" at the Woolworth Building.

Edward locates Giselle at Robert's apartment. While Edward is eager to take Giselle home to Andalasia and finally marry, she insists that they should first go on a date to get to know each other, still conflicted about her feelings. Giselle promises to return to Andalasia after ending their date at the ball, which Robert and Nancy also attend. Narissa, who has been spying from Andalasia, decides to follow and kill Giselle herself after Nathaniel failed to poison her twice. Robert and Giselle share a dance with each other. Giselle and Edward then prepare to leave, but Giselle feels sorrow at leaving Robert behind. Narissa appears as the old hag and offers the last poisoned apple to Giselle, promising "sweet dreams and happy endings." Giselle takes a bite and falls to the floor unconscious.

Narissa attempts to escape with Giselle's body but is stopped by Edward. Nathaniel, realizing Narissa was using him and never loved him, reveals her plot. Robert realizes that true love's kiss is the only force powerful enough to break the poisoned apple's spell. After Edward's kiss fails to wake Giselle, he prompts Robert to do so instead. When Robert kisses her just as the clock strikes twelve, Giselle awakens and the whole crowd cheers. Narissa transforms into a giant blue dragon and takes Robert hostage. Giselle takes Edward's sword and pursues Narissa to the top of the building. Pip, who was freed by Edward, helps Giselle successfully defeat Narissa, who falls off of the building and dies.

A happy new life follows, showing Edward and Nancy marrying in Andalasia; Giselle running a successful fashion business and forming a happy family with Robert and Morgan; while Nathaniel and Pip each become successful authors.
