Spelling Information for the Week of September 10, 2018 to September 14, 2018
Dear Parents,
Our spelling words this week include first grade review and second grade review Red Words and the Green Word spelling pattern “ai.”
Red Words
“Red Words” are non-phonetic words that do not follow the rules and cannot be sounded out. We will review our last eleven first grade red words.

We will review our second grade Red Words, talk, friend, which, and very. Each student must receive a 100 percent on these four second grade red words for two weeks in a row to show mastery and receive a final grade.

Our “Green Word” list for the week includes learning about vowel teams. Vowel teams are often introduced by simply noting that “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.” The vowel team we will be focusing on this week will be “ai.” The vowel team “ai” says long a.
