Reading Logs: Choose a Cat

Two more reading logs for a total of four will be due on January 14, 2016.

“Green Words”

Once again, the students will be learning about “vowel teams.” The vowel teams are often introduced by simply noting that “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.”

Green words or the two vowel teams that we will be focusing on this week will be ee and oe. The vowel team ee says long e, and the vowel team oe says long o.

“Red Words”

Our red words for this week are eye and its.

Please continue to review all first quarter and second quarter red words. These words are as follows: each, call, goes, pull, girl, white, talk, friend, which, very, many, also, black, these, why, around, don’t.

“Vocabulary Words”

There will be four additional spelling words this week that include math words and a word that is frequently misspelled in sentence dictation and writing activities. The three math words are hundreds, tens, and ones; and, the frequently misspelled vocabulary word is because.

Spelling Test: Our spelling test for the week will be on Friday, December 4, 2015.
