Spelling/Reading Information for the Week of May 13, 2019 to May 17, 2019
Dear Parents,
We have concluded our studies for Red Words and Green Word patterns for the year. Last week was our last formal spelling test.
Reading Focus
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.5 Describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action.
We will continue, however, our study of America’s favorite pastime, “baseball.” We will be learning about the sport, as well as, famous baseball players, male and female, from the past and the present. We will conclude the reading of our text selection, The Hero Two Doors Down, by Sharon Robinson. Our vocabulary test over the selection will be on Wednesday, May 15th.
Our writing focus will continue to be poetry (CCSS.ELA-WRITING.2.5)), and we will wrap up our year with a “2nd Grade End of the Year Grammar Review.”
Thank you for a great year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Arp and Mrs. Dillion
