Math: Arp/Dillion Module 3, Lesson 9

Reading: Read on a nightly basis. Document the time spent reading, title of the book, and a parent signature Monday through Thursday.

Spelling: Spelling test tomorrow, Friday, October 12, 2018. Please study the following Green Word patterns: magic e, vowel teams (ea, oa, ai), -ng, -nk, and suffix -ed; Red Words don’t, push, its, these, why, around.

New Red Words: don’t, push, its

Review Red Words: these, why, around

RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.

Red Word Focus

This week we will review the Red Words these, why, and around. Our new Red Words are don’t, push, and its. Please remember that these words are non-decodable words, and they do not follow the rules of phonics.

Green Word Pattern Focus

Our “Green Word Pattern” focus this week will be a review of the first quarter green word patterns. The green word patterns that were covered over the past 8 weeks have been sent home on dictation pages, classroom activities, and spelling tests. Please review all of these materials and the dictation pages and activities completed this week for the Friday spelling test. Examples of the Green Word Patterns are as follows: (magic e), (vowel teams - ea, oa, ai), (-ng and -nk endings), and (suffix –ed).

Once again, students will be expected to apply all previous classroom information and this week’s information to ten or more green word pattern words on the Friday, October 12, 2018, Spelling Test.
