                  • Dear Parents,

                  • Our spelling words this week include Red Words and the new “Green Word” pattern ea (long e sound) as in eat.

                  • Red Words

                  • “Red Words” are non-phonetic words that do not follow the rules and cannot be sounded out.

                  • Our 2nd Grade Red Words this week will once again be the words pull, goes, and girl. Each student must receive a 100 percent on these three second grade red words for two weeks in a row to show mastery and receive a final grade.

                  • 2nd Grade Red Words: goes, pull, girl

                  • Green Words

                  • Our “Green Word” pattern for this week will be the vowel team or vowel digraph ea as in the word eat. The vowel team “ea” makes only one sound, long e.

                  • Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, September 22, 2017.
