Spelling Information for the Week of April 10, 2017, to April 13, 2017

Dear Parents,

Red Words: part, floor, father, eight

Vocabulary Words: imitated, motion, curious

Green Word Study

Over the next two weeks, our “Green Word” pattern focus will be on the “Consonant-le Endingsble, -fle, -tle, -dle, -gle, -kle, -ple, and –zle. To facilitate the decoding of a word, these common endings can be cut off. Students will be given specific words that contain several of these endings for this week and next week. Please practice these words with the Consonant –le ending Green Word pattern as your child brings home activity pages and dictation pages. Weekly spelling words will come from these pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to fifteen or more “Consonant-le Endings” Green Word Pattern words on their Thursday, April 13, spelling test.

Vocabulary Study

Our spelling test will also include the vocabulary words imitated, motion, and curious. These vocabulary words are from our new selection, Helen Keller. We will continue to use information gained from the illustrations and words in a print or digital text to demonstrate understanding of its characters, setting, or plot. RL.2.7

Red Word Study

Our red words for the week will be part and floor. Both of these words will be on our Thursday spelling test. Please remember that these words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics.

Please note that our final spelling test for all words will be on Thursday, April 13, 2017.

Thank you,

Mrs. Arp
