Spelling: Spelling Information for the Week of February 23, 2015

Once again, the students will be learning about “vowel teams.” The vowel teams are often introduced by simply noting that “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.”

Green words or our two vowel teams that we will be focusing on this week will be ay and oe. The vowel team ay says long a, and the vowel team oe says long o.

Our third grade red words for the week are enough, full, and great. There will be no spelling practice other than the vowel team dictation pages that will be completed on Tuesday and Wednesday in the classroom. Please practice these words as your child brings them home. Weekly spelling words will come from the dictation pages or words that have a similar vowel team pattern.

Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, February 27, 2015.
