Dear Parents,

HOMEWORK: Write each 3rd Grade 4th Quarter Red Word 5 times each for Monday’s homework.

Red Words: whom, minute, rough, they’re, weren’t, thorough, we’re

Red Word Focus

The Red Words for the week will be the 3rd Grade, 4th Quarter Red Words, whom, minute, rough, they’re, weren’t, thorough, and we’re. The final test for these words will be on Friday, May 10th. The words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics.

Green Word Focus

RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words

Reading Focus

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.5 Describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action.

We will continue our study of America’s favorite pastime, “baseball.” We will be learning about the sport, as well as, famous baseball players, male and female, from the past and the present. Our reading selection will focus on the famous, “Jackie Robinson.” The title of our book selection is, The Hero Two Doors Down, by Sharon Robinson. Our writing focus will continue to be poetry (CCSS.ELA-WRITING.2.5)).

Please note once again that our final test will be on Friday, May 10, 2019. The spelling test will include the Red Words whom, minute, rough, they’re, weren’t, thorough, and we’re.
