Reading: Continue to complete reading logs; Raz Kids
Reading Logs for the 2nd Nine Weeks
The end of the quarter ends on January 9, 2015.
Please note that two books must be read prior to this date. Once again, your child will be responsible for turning in four reading logs per nine weeks.
*Homeward Bound books - please read on a nightly basis. Students are required to read these books at home. Each student needs to turn in 2 reading log sheets per Interim, and a total of 4 reading log sheets per report card. Your child will receive a grade for turning in his/her completed reading logs.
Spelling: Study "Red" and "Gold" words for the test tomorrow, Friday,
December 19, 2014.
This week we will be working on gold words which are centered around our “Christmas
Around the World” activities.
Gold/Vocabulary Words:
Christmas 6.traditions 11. carolers
sleigh 7. candles 12. Santa Claus
reindeer 8. evergreens 13. gifts
wreath 9. poinsettias
decorations 10. stockings
Students will also be required to spell two more “red words” on his/her final spelling test on Friday. Our red words for this week are why and yellow. These will be our last second grade red words. After Christmas, we will begin third grade red words along with our green and gold words.
Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, December 19, 2014.

Math: We completed our math NWEA today. Students who were absent will complete theirs tomorrow.
Science: I have sent a new letter home regarding the time and date for students to turn in his/her additional 5 "Nature Quest" reading activities. The new date to turn in the 5 book activities is January 9, 2015. Check your son/daughter's book bag for additional information.
