Red Word Focus

Our Red Word test this week will be on Friday and will be over the new 4th Quarter Red Words. The words are as follows: almost, does, eight, father, part, and floor. These words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics. Students will have these words on their Friday spelling test for two weeks to show mastery.

Green Word Focus

RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words

Our “Green Word” pattern/focus for the week will be the vowel team ea (VT) that says short e as in head. Students will complete activities for words that contain this vowel team pattern throughout the week. Please practice these words as your child brings them home on dictation pages. Weekly spelling words may come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more ea (VT) words on their Friday, March 6th, spelling test.
