Our reading focus for the week will continue our unit on the genre, “Fairy Tales.” Students will identify the elements of fairy tales, recount stories to determine their central message, lesson, or moral, identify character traits, and learn to compare and contrast two versions of the same story. (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.2, 2.9) Our writing focus continues to be opinion writing (CCSS. ELA-W2.1), and our grammar focus will be pronouns/reflexive pronouns (CCSS.ELA-L2.1C).

Please note that there will be two spelling tests this week. The first spelling test will be all of the 1st and 2nd Quarter Red Words. The second spelling test will be all of the 2nd Quarter Green Word Patterns. This test will be on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
