Complete the Monday fluency read, "The Grasshopper and
the Ants." Don't forget to answer the questions on the back.
Math: Complete Lessons 6 and 7 Homework, Module 7, Money.
Spelling: Write the Review Red Words 2 times each for Monday's homework.

HOMEWORK: Write each 1st and 2ndQuarter Red Word 2 times each for Monday’s homework.

Red Word Focus
This week will be a review of our 1st and 2ndQuarter Red Words. We will practice these words throughout the week in the classroom. Students will take a final test over these words on the Friday, March 16, 2018, spelling test.
Green Word Focus
RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words
Our “Green Word” pattern/focus for the week will be a review of the following Green Word patterns: oa, oe, ea, ee, ay, and ai. Please practice these review Green Word pattern words as your child brings them home on dictation pages. Weekly spelling words may come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more words on their Friday, March 16, 2018, spelling test.
Reading Focus
We will continue our reading of the informational text, The Last Great Race, and we will complete our biography writing of our Iditarod musher for our author visit. The students will also answer questions regarding historical events and scientific ideas or concepts. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.2.2 Identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text.CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.2.3 Describe the connection between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.2.5 Know and use various text features (e.g., captions, bold print, subheadings, glossaries, indexes, electronic menus, icons) to locate key facts or information in a text efficiently. Our writing focus continues to be opinion writing (CCSS. ELA-W2.1, and RL.2.1) with an emphasis on reading closely to generate longer more detailed letter writing, and our grammar focus will be to correctly use adjectives and adverbs and to choose between them depending on what is to be modified. (CCSS.ELA.L.2.1.E)
Our Friday spelling test will include the review of all 1st and 2nd Quarter Red Words and our Green Word Patterns oa, oe, ea, ee, ay, and ai. The test over all of these words will be on Friday, March 16, 2018.
