Spelling Information for the Week of September 18, 2017 to September 22, 2017

Dear Parents,

Our spelling words this week include Red Words and the new “Green Word” pattern ea (long e sound) as in eat.

Red Words

“Red Words” are non-phonetic words that do not follow the rules and cannot be sounded out.

Our 2nd Grade Red Words this week will once again be the words pull, goes, and girl. Each student must receive a 100 percent on these three second grade red words for two weeks in a row to show mastery and receive a final grade.

2nd Grade Red Words: goes, pull, girl

Green Words

Our “Green Word” pattern for this week will be the vowel team or vowel digraph ea as in the word eat. The vowel team “ea” makes only one sound, long e.

Homework:

Please write each 2nd Grade Red Word three times each for homework. Return the completed spelling practice on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Thank you,

Mrs. Arp
