Spelling Information for the Week of November 2, 2015 to November 6, 2015

Dear Parents,

“Red Words”

Our two new second grade red words for the week are the words these and why.

“Green Words”

Our second grade green word study this week concentrates on the suffix –ed. When something happened some time ago, whether it was a long time ago or “a moment ago,” you usually add ed to the action or verb. The ed may be pronounced short i, (i), (d), or (t).

There will be spelling practice with -ed on the dictation pages that will be completed on Tuesday and Wednesday in the classroom. Please practice these words as your child brings them home in his/her plastic homework folder . Weekly spelling words will come from the dictation pages or words that have a similar –ed pattern. Students will have to identify if the word ends with the short I, (i), (d), or (t) sound on their test.

Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, November 6, 2015.
