Math: Lesson 25, Module 4

Spelling: Review Green Word Patterns, -ar and -or

Review Red Words and Vocabulary Words (should, yellow, knew, were, latch, eldest, cunning, brittle, plucked)

Spelling Information for the Week of February 6, 2017, to February 10, 2017

Dear Parents,

Green Word Study

Our “Green Word” patterns for the week are –ar as in star and –or as in horn.” Please practice the –ar and –or words as your child brings them home on dictation pages. Weekly spelling words may come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more “-ar and -or” words on their Friday spelling test.

Vocabulary Study

Our spelling test will also include the reading vocabulary words latch, eldest, cunning, brittle, and plucked. These vocabulary words are from our fairy tale reading of “Lon Po Po.” We will be comparing two of the same stories by different authors or from different cultures. RL.2.9

Red Word Study

Our two new red words will be should and yellow. Our two review red words are once again knew and were. These words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics. Please remember, each student must receive a 100 percent for two weeks in a row to receive a final grade for all red words.

Please note that our final spelling test will be on Friday, February 10, 2017.
